Garry Williams
Garry Williams is a composer-lyricist, musician, theatre artist, playwright, educator, avid reader, and amateur gardener. His career encompasses high and low art, community and social justice work, and commercial projects. He is as comfortable on a Main Stage, as he is making performances in bars, back yards, and construction sites. Garry has created scores for various companies, including North Barn Collective; Ship’s Company; Doppler Effect; Festival Antigonish; Alderney Landing; and One Light Theatre; as well as Merritt-nominated scores for Gale Force Theatre (Crypthand); Shakespeare by the Sea (Pinocchio, Peter Pan, Twelfth Night); Eastern Front/Neptune (Kamp); and Villains Theatre (The Jew of Malta). He regularly directs the LunaSea choir for Carols in the Cathedral. Garry studied Musicology, Comparative Literature at the Free University Berlin; studied Theatre and Music at Manhattanville College; and received a B.Mus. and Engl. Min. from Mount Allison University. He co-founded DaPoPo Theatre in 2003-4. He lives in Kjipuktuk, Mi'kma'ki, the ancestral and traditional lands of the Mi'kmaq people.
